Stella Fluorescent is working with Sierra Reading, a Bay Area artist, designer and, vegetable dying maven, to create the color story for our next collection. So far we've got avocado pits (surprisingly) for pink, indigo for a deep royal blue, onion skins, and turmeric for mustard yellows, and black tea for a bone ivory. Sooo, excited to see the results and sample material, as color truly brings the prototypes to life!
This is the our second foray into natural dyes, the first was with Julia Busenitz of Luca Jackson. We worked with cochineal a red, fuchsia, and pink dye to over dye printed silk scarves. Read more about that collaboration here.
